Sand Springs to Host Exciting Array of Community Events June 9-10

SAND SPRINGS - The weekend of June 9-10 is shaping up to be an exhilarating time in Sand Springs, with a myriad of events catering to various interests and ages.

Kicking off the festivities on Friday is the highly anticipated "Summer Send Off" family-friendly wrestling event hosted by Core Professional Wrestling. Taking place at HillSpring Church, the doors open at 7:00 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Koko will challenge Franco Varga for the Heavyweight title; Nathan Estrada will battle Tommy Dean in a No DQ match; Judie Azul will challenge Stormi Renee for the women's belt; Exodus Prime will battle Luke Langley; and Mr. Nasty will challenge Mascara Purpura for the 918 Championship.

Fans can expect thrilling matches as all championships will be on the line. Tickets, priced at $10 for general admission, $15 for ringside seats, and $20 for VIP stage seating, can be purchased at the venue or at Core’s website. Children aged 5 and under will be admitted for free. Notably, all profits from the event will be donated to fund Camp HillSpring. HillSpring Church is located at 8801 West 41st Street.

The EuroMotor Extravaganza will move from downtown to Case Community Park for the first time.

On the same evening, car enthusiasts can look forward to the tailgate party and registration for the 14th annual EuroMotor Extravaganza. The event, hosted by the Tulsa Jaguar Club, will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Case Community Park. Participants can enjoy the lively atmosphere and view a stunning display of European and British cars.

Late registration will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, with the car show scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Additionally, a silent auction will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit Sand Springs Animal Welfare. The car show awards ceremony will commence at 2:30 p.m., recognizing outstanding vehicles in various categories.

The car show is just part one of an exciting “Night at Case” event hosted by the Sand Springs Parks Department and the Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce.

For those seeking an adrenaline rush, Sand Springs BMX will be hosting an Open House event at Case Community Park from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This event offers free hotdogs, hamburgers, and drinks for attendees. People of all ages are invited to ride the BMX track, and free bike and helmet rentals will be available for anyone interested in experiencing BMX firsthand.

The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the second annual Cornhole Classic on Saturday as well. Participants can check in at 2:00 p.m., with the tournament kicking off at 3:00 p.m. The competition guarantees three rounds of exciting cornhole action. Divisions include a $20 youth division, a $50 Local Supporter division for businesses and community members, and a $50 competitive/open division. Cash prizes, cornhole board giveaways, and trophies will be awarded to the winners. Registration closes on Wednesday, June 7th.

Aside from these headline events, Case Park offers a range of family-friendly activities, including playgrounds, a splash pad, basketball court, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, and a disc golf course. As the sun sets, the Parks Department will delight movie lovers by screening "Puss in Boots 2" on their giant inflatable screen on the Great Lawn.

Saturday also brings the 33rd annual Kids Free Fishing Derby at the historic Sand Springs Lake, hosted by Church That Matters and the Sand Springs Parks Department. The event is open to children aged 4-12, with divisions for different age groups. Kids will have the opportunity to compete for prizes, including 1st through 3rd place in each division, as well as categories like the biggest and smallest fish and the biggest turtle. Participants must bring their own fishing equipment, while Woody's Bait & Tackle will provide worms and minnows. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., and fishing commences at 8:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, the Rotary Club of Sand Springs invites fishing enthusiasts to join the annual John Rudy Bass Tournament on Keystone Lake. The tournament entry fee is $125 per two-person team and includes one meal and a raffle ticket per person. Participants can try their luck at catching the big bass and compete for a chance to win the $1,000 prize. The tournament will be held at Prairie View Boat Ramp, with fishing starting at daybreak and weigh-ins taking place at 2:00 p.m.

To conclude the weekend on a musical note, local country music star Jake Tankersley, renowned from his appearance on American Idol, will grace the stage at Pier 51 in Keystone State Park. Catch his captivating performance at the Winn's on the Water restaurant at 6:00 p.m.

For fans of the popular augmented reality game Pokémon Go, the community day on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. is not to be missed. This month's spotlight Pokémon will be Axew, offering players a chance to capture this rare creature. Sand Springs, known for its abundant Pokéstops and gyms, invites trainers to join the Sand Springs Pokémon Go Club on Facebook for a truly immersive experience.
