Sand Springs Singer-Songwriter Darin Shipley Places 2nd in National Competition

Sand Springs singer-songwriter Darin Shipley recently took second place in CMUnited’s quarterly writing contest for the last quarter of 2023.

Shipley is a lifelong resident of Sand Springs and 1992 graduate of Charles Page High School. He released his debut album, “Hunger Rising,” in 2018.

Shipley’s 2023 single “Irrevocable” took second place in the contest and another song, “Wonderfully Made,” also placed in the top 20 nationally. Both songs can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and most other music streaming services.

CMUnited is a free membership organization founded in 2001 that networks Christian songwriters, worship leaders, artists, and bands. The organization reportedly hosts the longest-running Christian songwriting content in existence.

Taking first place in the quarterly contest was Arielle Nichole with “Rest,” which will advance to the 21st annual Songwriter of the Year contest for 2023. “Rolling Waters” by Jamie Meyer took third place.
