The Charles Page High School varsity baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a 21-9 overall record and 8-4 record in District 6A-3. The boys fell 2-1 and 4-3 to Enid (24-9, 8-4) on Thursday and Friday, but bounced back with a dominant 13-0 shutout of Glenpool (9-23) in their last game before the Regional playoffs.

Sebastian Cassidy (4-3) pitched a three-inning no-hitter with two strikeouts and two walks against Glenpool, while Jaxon Skaggs (3-1) tossed three hits and one strikeout in two innings of relief. The Sandites only needed nine hits to score twelve runs thanks to an eleven-walk performance by the Warriors.

Watkins scored on a fielder’s choice. Kyler Copeland and Seth Villines hit RBI singles to score Cale and Cason Savage, and the home team took a 4-0 lead.

4/26/19 Enid 4 CPHS 3

On Friday the boys still had a shot at District Runners-Up, but that too was taken from them. Plainsman pitcher Brett Russell threw six hits and four walks, but struck out eight Sandites. Meanwhile Sand Springs went through four pitchers. The visiting Sandites led till the bottom of the fifth, but a three-run inning for Enid snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

Teagan Cook hit an RBI single in his first varsity at-bat, followed by Villines. Snodgrass and Peterman scored runs for the 2-0 lead. Villines hit another RBI single in the fourth, this time scoring Cason Savage.

Russell scored one for the Plainsmen on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second. Enid stranded loaded bases in the fourth, but ran away with it the next inning. After a walk, a balk, and a single gave up a run, Miller was replaced on the mound by Massey (1-0). Massey threw a walk and was replaced by Preston Berg (0-1), who gave up a hit and a hit-by-pitch, and was in-turn replaced by Watkins (1-1).

Watkins threw one hit, one strikeout, and three walks in two innings and was credited with the loss. Miller had eight hits, two strikeouts, and three walks.
