CPHS Baseball: JV Black 1-3 on the season, beat Edison 10-1

The Charles Page High School JV Black Baseball team is sitting at 1-3 on the season with three close losses and one dominant win. They lost 9-8 to Edmond Memorial, 11-7 to Bixby, and 9-7 to Union, but throttled Edison 10-1.

Against Edmond Memorial they trailed 9-2 going into the fifth inning, but piled on six runs in the comeback attempt. Ren and Brody Rutledge led the team with two hits each. Dom Ornealas hit a home run for a team-high two RBI and two runs. Carson Seabolt and Kaden Young pitched one inning apiece, and Morgan Powell pitched two innings with no hits and two strikeouts.

The Bixby game saw another late rally as the Sandites trailed 10-2 before scoring four runs in the sixth. The team tallied seven hits, led by Lane Hayduk with two, and Ornealas had a double. Brooks Dudley led the team in RBI with two. Braylon Flores threw three hits and three walks with only one run and four strikeouts in 3.1 innings. Nathan Gibson also pitched two innings.

The Sandites needed only three and a half innings to run-rule Edison last Saturday. Young was two-for-two at the plate with two runs and two RBI. Taegan Cook tossed six strikeouts with only one walk and one hit in three innings. Hayden Blair hit a double for an RBI and also tossed two strikeouts and one hit in one inning.

Sand Springs jumped out to an early 4-0 lead against Union, but the Redskins rallied with a six-run sixth inning to take the lead. Brody Rutledge scored a team-high three runs, and Ren Rutledge and Landon Jetton had two RBI apiece. Cook threw two hits, three walks, and six strikeouts with only one run in five innings. Flores and Seabolt also saw time on the mound.
