Sandite of the Week: Colt Savage scores 56 points over two games

University of Central Oklahoma-committed senior Colt Savage was selected as our Sandite of the Week for his remarkable performances in two games last week. The Class 6A No. 10 ranked Charles Page High School boys' basketball team (14-4, 7-3) picked up a pair of conference wins and Savage led the team in scoring on both occasions.

On Tuesday the Sandites won a 60-42 bout with Bixby (7-12, 2-8) and Savage scored 31 points for the third time this year. He also recorded four rebounds, one assist and two steals.

On Friday the Sandites trailed the No. 11 Sapulpa (12-7, 4-6) Chieftains 52-46 before going on a seven-point run with five from Savage to reclaim the lead with a few minutes left. The Chieftains resorted to desperation fouls in the final minutes, but Savage was perfect at the charity stripe to secure the win with a game-high 25 points. He also recorded seven rebounds and a steal.

Over the course of the two games he was 18-of-31 on field goals and 15-of-19 from two-point range. He was nearly perfect on free throws, only missing one per game, 17-of-19.

This coming week will be one of the toughest of the season for the Sandites. On Tuesday they will travel to No. 6 Union (15-4, 8-2) and try to avenge a 60-45 loss from December. On Friday they will travel to No. 8 Owasso (15-4, 7-3) who they previously defeated 72-64 in December.
