CPHS Baseball: Sandites come from behind for 9-6 win over Nolensville

The Charles Page High School varsity baseball team (6-1) won its fourth straight game Tuesday afternoon, 9-6 over Nolensville, Tennessee (3-4). The Sandites took an early 3-0 lead before falling behind, but hammered the Knights with six runs in the bottom of the sixth. Sand Springs is 2-0 thus far in the 27th Annual Tate Aggie Classic in Florida.

Jaxon Skaggs (1-0) got the start on the mound and gave up two singles in the top of the first, but struck out two to strand the runners. Kyler Copeland and Kiefer Massey hit singles in the second, and courtesy runner Brycen Peterman scored the first run of the game. Cal Watkins hit a RBI single in the third and scored on an error to make it 3-0.

Nolensville got on the board in the top of the fourth with a RBI triple from Dawson Conder who in turn scored on a sacrifice fly. Carson Robble batted in Ethan Syling to tie it in the fifth and John Miller (1-0) took over on the mound.

Miller gave up a walk and a single in the sixth, and Conder scored the go-ahead run on a hit from Parker Price, but the Sandites got back out front right away. Four hits, five walks, and an error gave Sand Springs all they needed for the comeback.

Kaegan Murray hit an RBI triple, Ethan Sartin had an RBI double and Cale Savage had a 2RBI single for the 9-4 lead. Ben Banker and Malachi Burks also got RBIs for walking on loaded bases.

Michael Miller pitched the final inning and loaded the bases with a single and two walks. Tyler Hammonds hit an RBI single and Aidan Spears scored on a fielder’s choice, but Copeland sent a ground ball to first base to bring the game to a close.

John Miller got the win on the mound, throwing one hit, one walk, and two strikeouts. Skaggs pitched seven hits, three strikeouts, and no walks. Michael Miller tossed two hits and two walks.

Sandite Baseball will return to action Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to Navarre High School (4-4).
