CPHS Volleyball: Sandites fall 3-0 to Broken Arrow

The Charles Page High School varsity volleyball team (6-17, 4-4) suffered a 3-0 sweep at the hands of No. 9 ranked Broken Arrow (19-11, 8-0) Tuesday evening at the Ed Dubie Field House. The Tigers wrapped up the Frontier Valley Conference title with an undefeated 8-0 record.

Broken Arrow wasted no time in digging a hole for their opponents, burying the Sandites with an eleven-straight win streak before the home team went to work. Madison Burris scored three kills off sets from Raylynn Mong. Two Tiger errors and and a block from Vanessa Wyrick and Devree Youngblood cut it to 14-8, but Broken Arrow quickly adjusted and ultimately prevailed 25-11.

The second set started off slightly less lopsided and the Sandites actually led twice before the Tigerettes began to run away with it. Broken Arrow scored four, Cheyenne Henry got a kill, then they scored seven more for a 13-4 lead. It was back and forth from there but the visitors won handily, 25-14.

Game three fared no better for the Sandites, though they hung close till 10-6. Then Broken Arrow won four straight and began working up another insurmountable lead with a match-best sixteen kills.

Sand Springs has two matches left before the playoffs. They will travel to Ponca City (4-17) Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
