CPHS Softball: Lady Sandites fall to Southmoore and Tahlequah at Jenks Festival

The Charles Page High School slow pitch softball team (4-8) went 0-2 at the Jenks Festival Tuesday, falling by run-rule to No. 11 ranked Tahlequah (9-7) and No. 3 Southmoore (16-3).

In the first game of the day the No. 14 Lady Sandites were drilled 19-0 by Southmoore. Sand Springs recorded only six hits to Southmoore's 23 in the lopsided defeat.

The Sabercats took a 9-0 lead in the top of the fourth and more than doubled that in the fifth. Jaycee Kievet hit a solo home run in the top of the fifth and Karli Petty capped things off with a grand slam for the final runs of the game.

Tahlequah started out a lot closer as the Sandites only trailed 3-2 before the Tigers rallied with nine runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Tigers scored two in the first inning and one in the second. Sabrina Usher doubled in the top of the second and came in on a single from Kinsey Skaggs to get Sand Springs on the board. Elizabeth Luttrell doubled to score Kimi Presnell in the third.

Tahlequah loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth and things began to come unraveled as the Tigers notched eight hits, two walks, and two errors for a 12-2 advantage.

Jacie Taber hit a single to bring in Sabrina Usher in the top of the fifth, but Hailey Sams hit a 2 RBI triple in the bottom of the inning to bring the game to a close.

Sand Springs Softball will return to action Thursday with a Highway 97 Rivalry double-header against No. 17 Sapulpa (5-5) at home, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
