Tulsa's Great Raft Race is a historic event for the Tulsa community that ran from 1973 through 1991 before being discontinued.
The Tulsa Young Professional Foundation (TYPros) revived the festivities in 2015 and the resurrected event has found a new generation of fans and participants.
Kayaks, canoes, inflatable rafts, and homemade rafts launch from River City Parks in Sand Springs and float 8 miles downstream to River West Festival Park in Tulsa.
There are two timed races, one for canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, and inflatables, and one for homemade rafts. There is also a prize for best raft theme/costumes.
The Bud Light Boatyard Bash will be the post-race celebration in the Festival grounds and there will be a kid zone as well.
